Removing Timespans

I've just launched a small but significant change: we're starting to remove Timespans!

What were Timespans?
A lot of people will tell you that you should work on goals for about 3 months. The idea is that goals should be something you can achieve in three months. However, as we've used and tested this system, we haven't found it works well. We came up with our own methodology designed for neurodivergent people. With ours, we ask you to list out your dreams—things that seem too big and too impossible. Then, we get you to create goals you can achieve within a few weeks that move you 1% closer to your dreams. We encourage you to set goals you can guarantee you'll achieve, often focusing on taking action rather than setting a target. Since adopting our methodology, we haven't found any need for Timespans. They really just confuse things. Plus, in testing, many of you didn't understand what they were or how they worked. We considered making it clearer, but since they no longer fit, we've decided to remove them.

What to expect? 

  • Completed Timespans: You'll still see them and all your wins, just like always. 
  • Draft Timespans: Start them like usual; they won't prompt you about ending. 
  • New Users: They won't see Timespans at all, just the prompt to create their goals. 

Looking Ahead We might bring back some elements like the time ticker to help track progress. We'll see how it fits into our new approach.

Complete your Goals during Check Ins!

What's New?
We've introduced a streamlined way to manage your goals during Check-Ins! Now, you have the flexibility to mark a goal as completed or cancel it directly within a Check-In. Once marked, you'll no longer be prompted for updates on that specific goal, making your goal management smoother and more efficient.


Why This Change?

Our recent shift from Measures to Dreams has significantly influenced the way you set short-term goals. Previously, goals were often designed to span a 3-month period. However, we've observed a trend towards setting shorter-term goals, typically achievable within 1-3 weeks.

This adjustment allows for a more natural and intuitive way to conclude or discontinue goals, aligning with your evolving goal-setting habits. It's our way of making sure Cammi supports you better, adapting to your needs and feedback.

Introducing Dreams

New
Since we started many of you have been asking us for an option to have long term goals on Cammi. Today we've released the first iteration of this, Dreams!

So what are Dreams?
A Dream is a long-term idea, ambition, want or hope that you'd one day like to achieve. One of my personal ones is to buy a home for myself in London!

A Dream may feel too big, or too ambitious to consider – and that's okay! We don't ask you to break them down into steps, or plan how to get there, or measure your progress.

What we do let you do is create Short Term Goals that will move you a little closer to your dream. Even if you only move 1% closer to a dream that's a huge achievement. We spent years in school to enter the world as adults, we can't expect our dreams to happen overnight.
